The history of la Patrona
The day of la Patrona dates back to the 30th of May 1550, when the moors, led by Dragut, attacked Pollensa in one of the most significant historic landmarks of the town. Joan Mas, the leader of the Pollensans, went out on to the main road to warm his neighbours of what was happening and to entrust the towns patron saint, la Mare de Déu dels Àngels, to fight against the invaders. On that same day, on its eve, a battle which would be remembered until today took place.
